The dental industry has been subject to many new regulations and reforms in the past years. More and more treatments and products have to be paid by the patients themselves. At the same time, technology has made quantum leaps. The increasing digitalization is enabling more effective treatment and a more natural look. Founded back in the 1940s, Dürr Dental from Germany has always been a pioneer in the development of innovative dental products and services. The French subsidiary Dürr Dental France S.A.R.L. is a market leader nationwide, too. Managing Director Armin Bantle sees the company at the forefront of the market for years to come.

At present, the company focuses on four product fields. These are compressed air, suction, imaging and dental care and hygiene.

“We are rooted in the suction and compressed air sector,” says Mr. Bantle. “Today, Dürr Dental is one of the global leaders in digital diagnostics. Now, we are working on the horizontal expansion of our products and services in this field.”

One of the latest innovations of the product portfolio of Dürr Dental is Tornado, one of the quietest yet powerful compressors in dentistry. The sophisticated system has a calming effect on both patient and practitioner. Tornado is oil free, dry and hygienic. It only needs little maintenance. Only the filter has to be changed once a year. Thanks to its closed crankcase it is reliable. The compressed air is hygienic and odorless. The new models Tornado 1 and 2 excel in efficiency and low energy consumption; the latter was reduced by almost 15%.

Tornado 1 with its membrane drying device is one of the quietest yet powerful compressors in dentistry.

Vistascan Mini View is an image plate scanner enabling intuitive, efficient and timesaving digitalization of image plates.

Last but not least, Tornado won the reddot design award. For many years, the patented Vector system has been standard in low-pain treatment. Vector Paro is the further development of the tried-and-tested method for virtually painless periodontitis treatment.

The Vector principle is based on linear deflection of ultrasonic dynamics in the Paro handpiece, on parallel movements of the instrument to the axis of the root surface and on precise vertical 90° deflection. Vector is vibration-free and enables gentle removal of biofilm, bacteria and deposits.

With its VistaScan series, Dürr Dental also set a benchmark in the industry. The new VistaScan Mini View image plate scanner enables intuitive, efficient and time-saving digitalization of image plates. Its large touchscreen with an easy-touse interface, its compact size and integrated wireless functions make the device very flexible.

Dürr Dental France sells through depots to dentists, dental hospitals and practitioners. Nationwide, France has around 400 depots, most of them of small or medium size. The company is active in several countries, for example in the Maghreb region.

“Customer proximity is crucial for our business,” says Mr. Bantle. “You cannot make any offers without personal contact. Also, after sales has become an important aspect of our business in recent years. Here, we are particularly strong.”

Founded in 1977, Dürr Dental France became the French market leader in scanning technology in 2010. Up to this day, this is one of the company’s most important business fields. Today, Dürr Dental France has a staff of 17 and is the strongest foreign subsidiary of the Dürr Dental group.

“At present, there is a strong demand for digital dental impression,” Mr. Bantle describes the current market situation. “In addition to this, digital diagnostics is a growth field, too. For sure, prophylaxis will also remain an interesting business sector. Finally, health insurances are starting to realize that prophylaxis saves them a lot of money in the long run.”

Dürr Dental France is ready for more in the coming years. “We would like to keep our growth pace,” says Mr. Bantle. “Our goal is to let the patient participate in the advantages of our innovations. Of course, we hope that the economic situation will improve so that people’s willingness to invest starts to increase again. But you always have to move on, even when things are looking up and your back and legs hurt. This is business.”
