Flying is a very special experience. And it can be an exhausting one – for example when space is limited and the seats are not comfortable. Thanks to companies such as PMV Industrie based in Bressols, France, flying can create a feeling of well-being. The French company designs and manufactures seats and interior fittings for all types of aircraft and adds new dimensions to flying.

With more than 30 years of experience, PMV Industrie is a well-respected player on the market. The company provides maintenance on cabin interiors and produces seat covers and foams, composite elements and VIP interiors. “Our market is quite competitive,” says Sales Manager Lionel G. Roques. “It is absolutely essential to deliver high-quality products and services and to be reliable. This has always been our guideline and a key to success.”

The family business was founded 30 years ago. At the beginning, it concentrated on the production of car seats made of foam. Later, PMV Industrie diversified its portfolio and started focusing on aeronautics. Ten years ago, this business activity was separated from the rest. In addition, an affiliate was established and specialized in engineering. “We started with ten employees,” explains Mr. Roques. “Today, we have a workforce of 70 people which demonstrates that we have had extremely dynamic development.”

In Bressols near Toulon ¬- and near Airbus - PMV Industrie benefits from ideal conditions for providing customized solutions. The company produces seats for private jets, designs and manufactures interior fittings such as furniture, armrests, insulation and cladding panels, and offers maintenance and repair services not only for its own products but for all different brands.

Skilled employees with a lot of experience are the company’s backbone

“Our structure is a great asset,” points out Mr. Roques. “Our affiliate is responsible for everything related to engineering and calculation. This cooperation has many positive effects on our work. This way we are able to offer complete solutions including development, production, maintenance and repair.”

It is part of PMV Industrie’s strategy to focus on VIP aircrafts and private jets only. “We do not produce anything for charter flights, but we do offer repair services,” stresses Mr. Roques. “Often, when an airline wants to modify its first or business class, it gets in contact with us. In general, the seats are removed and then sent to us. On those occasions, we often do a lot more like cutting and laying new carpets for example.”

PMV Industrie’s customers are mainly aircraft suppliers. “There are only a few, maybe twelve suppliers on the market,” states Mr. Roques. “We know them all very well. In terms of repairs, things are a bit different. Here, we work directly with airlines and aircraft operators.”

PMV Industrie operates according to aircraft owners’ requirements – and according to high quality standards. The company has all important certifications such as POA 21 G and PART 145. “To compete successfully in the market quality always has priority,” underlines Mr. Roques. “Over the years, we have gained the reputation of a reliable and serious partner of the aeronautics industry. Customers appreciate that we stick to times and act according to agreements. Furthermore, we do not neglect the human side of the business, which means that we have very good and stable relationships with our service providers.”

Although PMV Industrie has long been a much sought-after partner of the aeronautics industry, the company keeps looking for new challenges. Its turnover of ten million EUR is mainly made up by the French market, especially because Airbus is nearby. In the future, the company is going to shift its focus more and more to foreign markets. “One main challenge will be to strengthen our market position abroad,” sums up Mr. Roques. “We have contact to international customers in Dubai already. Now it is up to us to intensify that and to acquire more foreign customers.”
