The tableware and decoration can influence the atmosphere at dinners, parties or even during regular meals. Different designs and combinations can reflect a certain mood and evoke various feelings, for instance, warmth, comfort or joy. Mateus Stock AB based in Stockholm designs and produces ceramic tableware, which is intended to create warmth at home and wonderful table designs. The unique combination of authentic Portuguese craftsmanship and contemporary Swedish design results in unique table products, which are renowned worldwide.

Mateus was founded by Portuguese born Teresa Lundahl in 1993 and became famous by its yellow plates that are still popular today.

“Our ceramics are about feelings of passion that evolve from the world of fashion,” explains Ms. Lundahl, who is the company’s managing director. “A passionate table presentation for dinners and parties reflects your love of life. For this reason, our main goal is to offer a choice for the customers in regards to the product portfolio and the freedom to choose what is in your heart and soul to create a memorable design.”

Today, Mateus’ portfolio includes over 600 table products in 15 different colors such as bowls, plates, platters, mugs, cups, candle holders and jugs, among others.

However, there are never two of the same products because each eye catching and unique piece is handmade and even hand painted by skilled artisans from Portugal, communicating the feeling of authentic craftsmanship. The different pieces and colors can be mixed and matched in many different ways to create a variety of looks.

The tableware made by Mateus is available at decorative shops throughout the world, for instance in Scandinavia, Japan and the USA. Bloomingdales, for example, is a big client in America.

“Our customers value the very unique and handmade products and our wide variety of pieces and color, which makes it easy to follow trends and fashion,” says Ms. Lundahl. “In the future, we will develop new markets, products, shapes and colors, creating unique pieces, which offer the opportunity to set your table with passion and let your parties and dinners reflect your love of life.”
