Flair and function

Some are big picture people, and some live for the details. For Italy’s Italiana Ferramenta s.r.l., a producer of furniture fittings, its success is found in being great at both. A flexible, innovative company serving hundreds of clients in 50 countries, Italiana Ferramenta makes the furniture accessories that add flair and function to home products.

Founded in 1997 by Luigi Rossetto and Ettore Tuchet, both of whom came from the furniture business, Italiana Ferramenta was created to meet a need within the market for furniture parts. From the beginning, the company has prided itself on producing exceptional furniture accessories and parts used in the production of high-quality furniture.

It began exporting, especially to Germany, in 1999. In the decade and a half since, the Italiana Ferramenta has made a name for itself as a leader in innovation and a producer of an increasing range of exciting products.

“We are constantly searching for new, innovative solutions that create value for our customers,” says Luigi Rossetto, acting president of Italiana Ferramenta. Altogether, the company brings in revenues of 13 million EUR annually, 100% of it based on exports, and employs 30 people at its headquarters in Maron di Brugnera.

“We are constantly searching for new, innovative solutions that create value for our customers.”

Luigi Rossetto, co-founder and president

Italiana Ferramenta manufactures its products at a single facility in northeastern Italy. In 2014, the company expanded its operations to a 6,500 m2 storage facility and an 800 m² office space. “Because of our diverse interests and markets, we were not very affected by the crisis,” Mr. Rossetto says.

Here, the company produces a range of furniture accessories, including: shelf supports, wood and glass shelving systems, connecting elements, worktop connectors, screws, door buffers and cover caps, opening systems, push catches and magnetic catches, hinges, levelers, hangers, and supports for wardrobe tubes.

Italiana Ferramenta exports to 50 countries around the world, with Europe and Russia comprising its core business at 60 to 70%. Wherever it finds its customers, the company provides exceptionally designed and crafted products for all areas of the house – kitchens, living rooms, bathrooms and elsewhere.

Great logistics and flexibility, along with an impressive storage facility guarantee that the company can assure fast and accurate delivery times. “In everything we do, we look for ways to find new answers to knotty problems,” says Mr. Rossetto. “Above all, we enable furniture manufacturers to reduce their stock of components and spares, something affecting all furniture manufacturers to a greater or lesser degree.”

When “Made in Italy” is one of the selling points, you can expect the company behind it to pay attention to detail and have a love of fine design. And so it is with Italiana Ferramenta, which is precise in everything it does, from its products to its delivery methods. “We are a serious company, and we are known for this seriousness,” says Mr. Rossetto. “Our customers know we are in the relationship for the long term, and that is important to them, too.”

Italiana Ferramenta has a wonderful array of products new to the market, such as its LINK opening systems, its Libra H7 Hanger, and its Secret Shelf Support, which won a German design award for 2013. It is happy to present these new products at fairs around the world, especially at Cologne’s Interzum and at Sicam in Pordernone.

“Direct contact is very important to us,” Mr. Rossetto says. The company developed special modular displays for these fair appearances and both displays them and sells them. Though they are not inexpensive, the company has received great feedback from its customers, making the investment worth it for many of its clients.

The flexible modules are easy to set up and allow users to make use of all available exhibition space. Italiana Ferramenta also has a new product line it is preparing to present at this year’s Sicam in Pordernone.

Step by step, the company will be entering new markets, with the Far East, North Africa and South America on its list of interests. Without a doubt, Italiana Ferramenta will be bringing its serious attention to flair and function to an audience on a global stage.
